The submissions were of a very high standard overall, reflecting a remarkable level of maturity and creativity from the participants. The artworks demonstrated a confident command of their chosen mediums.

What was particularly impressive was the way participants approached the themes. Despite the abstract nature of the subject matter, participants were able to translate these concepts into visually compelling works. The themes were not merely represented but deeply interpreted, resulting in pieces that carried profound meaning and resonated on an emotional level. The intensity of emotion conveyed through the artwork was especially noteworthy.

This year's entries demonstrated creativity, empathy, and thoughtful reflection on the themes of Organic Perspectives and Alternate Perspectives. The artists explored the topic of organ donation with maturity and sensitivity, using art to communicate meaningful messages and emotions.

Many participants approached the theme from unique and imaginative angles, particularly by giving voice to the organs themselves. Through the use of colour, symbolism, and storytelling, the artworks conveyed themes of hope, courage, gratitude, and continuity. The incorporation of the five senses added depth and helped viewers connect more personally with the stories being shared.

It was also encouraging to see entries exploring perspectives beyond the donor and recipient, highlighting the experiences of families, healthcare professionals, friends, and the wider community. These artworks encouraged reflection on the wider impact of organ donation and the importance of compassion, empathy, and shared responsibility, while fostering greater awareness of the importance of supporting one another as a community.

Overall, the submissions were visually engaging, thoughtful, and successful in capturing the intent and spirit of both themes – reflecting not only artistic imagination but also a genuine appreciation behind organ donation.

It is an honour to be back as a juror for Live On Festival for the third year. Every year, I'm reminded of how powerful creativity can be.

Organ donation isn't the easiest topic to explore, but once again, all of you have shown that meaningful stories can be told in so many different ways. Your works were thoughtful, moving, and full of heart.

What encourages me most is seeing how our young creatives are using their talents to start important conversations and inspire others. That gives me great hope—not just for the future of our creative industry, but for the kind of community we're building together.

Thank you to everyone who participated and shared your ideas with us. Congratulations to all the winners, and keep creating, because your work has the power to make a difference.

The entries in this competition interpreted the theme of organ donation with creativity, sensitivity and imagination. Many participants explored ideas of life, hope, renewal and human connection through unexpected visual narratives and original artistic approaches.

While technical skill is important and can be achieved through practice, what distinguishes an outstanding work is its ability to evoke emotion, inspire curiosity and offer a fresh perspective. The most memorable artworks are those that move beyond simply illustrating a theme to tell a compelling story that resonates with the viewer.

Among the many impressive submissions, a few exceptional entries stood out. These winning works are not only artistically accomplished, but also demonstrate originality, confidence and a strong narrative voice. Their thoughtful interpretations encourage us to reflect on the profound impact of organ donation—not simply as a medical procedure, but as an extraordinary act of generosity that offers hope and a second chance at life.

Art has the unique ability to communicate complex ideas in deeply human ways. These winning pieces raise awareness, spark meaningful conversations and remind us that every decision to become an organ donor has the potential to change lives. For these reasons, they are truly deserving recipients of this year's awards.

It’s been an honour and a pleasure to be on the judging panel for the Live on Festival 2026. Congratulations to all the finalists - I can tell you have put your heart and soul (and livers, kidneys, and corneas) into your artworks, and I want to thank you all for the time and effort you have given to such a meaningful cause!

The artwork this year blew me away, from both a storytelling and a technical standpoint. It’s truly wonderful to know that there are so many skilled young artists who are also able to think deeply about what they want to say with their art. Some of your artworks will stay with me long after this competition is over, and my wish is that the universally represented themes of community and hope will resonate with and inspire the general public as well. You all have made the judging process very difficult, and I salute you for that!
