Live On Festival 2021
Bridge of Hope; In Search of Hope
The annual Live On Design Competition returned for its fourth edition in 2021, and was renamed Live On Festival (LOF) with the addition of a creative essay writing segment to provide participants an opportunity to express their creativity through a different medium of art. A total of 89 schools participated in LOF 2021, with 1826 artworks and 1605 essays received across the various categories.
Design
The themes for the design competition are "Bridge of Hope" and "In Search of Hope". "Bridge of Hope" signifies the offer of help from organ donors, reaching out to those in need and bringing them out from their world of uncertainties. The second theme, “In Search of Hope” refers to the desperation of organ failure patients as they dwell in helplessness, looking for a chance to break free from the chains of their illnesses.
The judging panel for LOF 2021 – Design Competition comprised of: Ms Sally Kong (Deputy Director, National Organ Transplant Unit (NOTU)), Ms Sabrina Long (Dean, School of Art and Design, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts), Mr Tan Jiahui (Creative Director, Fable) and Mr Yan Da (Creative Director, Do Not Design).

The judging panel for LOF 2021 – Essay Competition comprised of: Ms Sally Kong (Deputy Director, NOTU), Dr Alvin Pang (Editor-In-Chief of the Civil Service College’s flagship journal, the internationally circulated public sector journal, ETHOS & Adjunct Editor – Centre for Liveable Cities), Ms May Tan (Director of Education & Development, National Arts Council) and A/Prof Graham John Matthews (Head of English, School of Humanities and Coordinator, Medical Humanities Research Cluster, Nanyang Technological University).
For schools to understand the issues of organ donation and transplantation and be able to participate in LOF meaningfully, sharing sessions in schools were conducted over Zoom or in classroom settings during Phase 3 of the heightened alert with safe management measures being adhered to. The physical Awards Ceremony for LOF 2021 and gallery of winning artworks and essays showcase will be online.
