Hear from our esteemed judges

Ms Sally Kong (Deputy Director, National Organ Transplant Unit, Ministry of Health)
LOF - Design & Essay Competition Judging Panel
It is a delight to have this opportunity to witness the many talented works in the various mediums, appreciating the time and deep thoughts invested in the pieces to express the emotions of loss, love, happiness, hope, sadness, disappointment, fear and joy.
This is my 7th edition as a judge in this Festival. With each passing year, I am absolutely awed and amazed by the increasing quality of the artworks. What astounds me is the maturity of such young artists in being able to grasp and translate such complex emotions in their pieces to encapsulate the theme.
There are several outstanding pieces that speaks right to the heart, captivating one’s attention, stirring the artists’ desired emotion.
For the essays, I find such pleasure in reading them and judging them was made even more challenging. The essays so accurately portrayed the deep understanding of the topics at hand and are penned with such clarity and coherence.
The outstanding essays are those that combined clear structure backed with intelligent debate and presented with elegance.
I wish to extend my congratulations to the winners for their marvelous works and on the collaboration in facilitating societal change that exudes your compassion and enthusiasm.

Ms Sabrina Long (Dean, Faculty of Art and Design/Principal, School of Young Talents Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts)

By starting with me, each one of us can make a difference. I can see this engagement with art through this competition. Your willingness to explore new ideas and your commitment to creativity can inspire and encourage others to contribute to a vibrant, expressive community.
I am privileged to witness remarkable expressions in the entries across the two categories this year which have shown that creativity is boundless.
They demonstrated that your imagination can lead to many dimensions through various mediums and methods.
For young artists, remember that art is another powerful way to communicate. Through your creations, you can convey emotions, ideas, and stories that words alone cannot express. This competition serves as an excellent platform for experimentation and exploration, allowing participants to express the themes meaningfully and boldly.
Let us all continue to support and encourage each other in our artistic journeys. Congratulations to all the participants and winners!

Ms Iris Teoh (Art Director, GOVT)
LOF - Design Competition Judging Panel
I am very honoured to be part of the LOF judging panel once again this year. No doubt of the younger creators, this year’s submissions are even better than the year before. Really good job to all participants!
With the digital category, it opened up to more execution styles and I believe allowed more people to express their views/messaging through their craft. And once again, I felt the tremendous efforts and the desire to support their community in helping to raise awareness for organ donation.
It was definitely challenging to select the winner but I do feel that with every submission, everyone is a winner.

Mr Mervin Tan (Co-Founder and Creative Director, PLUS Collaboratives)
LOF - Design Competition Judging Panel
I am extremely honoured to be part of the judging panel for Live On Festival. The many fantastic works that were submitted were truly impressive and many tackled the themes with much creativity and compassion.
The topic of organ donation was never going to be an easy topic to broach but seeing how it was defined and intertwined with their personal interpretations, goes to show that creativity knows no bounds.
Heartened and inspired by the works, I’m sure our local creative scene in Singapore will thrive in the good hands of our young creatives.
Congratulations to all winners.

Mr Sebastian Chew (UI/UX Designer, k-ID)

I was genuinely captivated by the entries in the “Live On Festival” where the themes of “… starting with me” and “… that endures across time” were intricately merged with artistic designs to emphasize the importance of organ donation, as families are also affected.
The dedication and creativity evident in each submission were truly remarkable, leaving a profound and inspiring impact. I eagerly look forward to witnessing their contributions to the world in the near future.
